Microcement is straightforward to care for when cleaning is regular and gentle. Remove sand, dirt and spills without scratching or damaging the protective finish.
Use a soft broom, vacuum or microfibre mop for regular cleaning. Use a diluted neutral cleaner approved for the installed system, wipe spills promptly and avoid abrasive tools, strong chemicals and dragging furniture.
A simple routine. Vacuum with a suitable head or use a soft broom before wet cleaning. Use a well-wrung microfibre mop and follow the cleaner dilution given for the installed system. More cleaning product is not always better. Change dirty water instead of spreading sand and dirt around the floor. Entrance mats can help catch this dirt before it reaches the main surface.
Spills, bathrooms and residue. Wipe spills promptly. Coloured, oily or strongly acidic liquids need quick attention, but hard scrubbing with an abrasive pad can turn a small mark into a larger dull area. In bathrooms, provide ventilation and remove soap and product residue regularly. If damp or discolouration remains, find the cause instead of using a stronger cleaner to hide it.
Furniture and other work. Use clean felt pads or suitable protectors under furniture. Lift heavy pieces instead of dragging them. Check the pads because trapped sand can scratch the floor. Protect the surface during decorating, plumbing, moving and other work. Use clean, non-staining protection that suits the finish, and do not apply tape directly without checking first.
Protective-coat review and repair. There is no single resealing schedule for every microcement surface. Traffic, cleaning, water exposure, texture and the protective product all affect when inspection or renewal is needed. If the surface is cut, chipped, badly stained or worn, ask for an assessment of the installed system. An early small repair is usually better than waiting for water or wear to make the damage larger.
